In this fourth instalment of our Meet the Team series, we’re marking an amazing five years of teamwork and proudly introducing our dedicated Payroll Officer, Julia Reynolds!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a mum to four amazing children, they bring so much happiness to my life. My priority is taking care of them, and I truly value the journey of guiding them and enjoying life with them. Aside from my role as a mum, I really enjoy spending time with my family and close friends, they’re all incredibly important to me. I’m also a big football fan, especially of Manchester United. I love watching the games, and it’s become a fun tradition to attend matches with my son and dad.

In your role, what do you do?

My primary responsibility involves gathering and organising data from agency staff regarding their completed work, ensuring that accurate and up-to-date information is available for the payroll week. I’m also responsible for maintaining effective communication with clients, verifying that the information aligns correctly with the weekly payroll cycle.

I also assist in recruiting new staff for our various branches, identifying suitable candidates, and allocating resources efficiently. Additionally, I provide administrative support, lending a hand with any tasks that require attention.

How did you come to work in this role?

Initially, my involvement began with handling some administrative tasks for Krista, but at one point I was approached to lend a hand to the payroll team for a week. Little did I know that this temporary assistance would eventually turn into a long-term commitment, and I’ve been doing it ever since!

As I stepped in to help with the payroll team, I found myself becoming increasingly engaged and interested in the intricacies of the role. The collaborative environment and the sense of contributing to an essential aspect of the business really appealed to me. This unexpected transition became an opportunity for me to expand my skill set and take on new challenges.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Engaging in regular conversations with both candidates and clients allows me to establish and maintain connections while ensuring that the necessary tasks are accomplished efficiently. Not only does it foster a sense of transparency and build rapport, but it also enables me to understand their needs and concerns better, which supports streamlining the overall workflow and delivering positive outcomes for everyone involved.

Whether it’s helping a candidate find their ideal role or assisting a client in securing a suitable team member, helping them get the results they’re looking for is the most rewarding aspect of my role overall.

What is it like working with the rest of the team?

Even though I am based remotely while my colleagues are in Glasgow, Newcastle, and Manchester, we have a great relationship. We’re regularly in touch with each other, offering assistance and support whenever possible, and we’ve created a positive and collaborative working dynamic. And we always have a great time when we get together!

What do you enjoy most about working in the supply chain industry?

We work with some amazing and down-to-earth candidates. Getting to know our candidates and being a part of their journey to secure employment and start earning a living is so rewarding.

What do you enjoy most about working with clients?

Our clients are simply the best! They’re all so friendly and always ready to lend a hand. It’s a genuine pleasure to work with individuals who not only value our services but also contribute positively to the overall dynamic.

What do you enjoy most about working with candidates?

Speaking to both new and established candidates is an aspect of my role that I truly enjoy. Everyone has their own unique story, and it’s great to connect with people from various walks of life, learning about their individual experiences and perspectives. Whether it’s swapping anecdotes or having a good laugh and a bit of banter, it really makes work more enjoyable.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

I love spending time with my kids, hitting the gym, going out with my sisters and friends, catching football games on weekends, and cooking up some tasty meals. Just everyday stuff that keeps things fun!
