We’re introducing the talented individuals that comprise our team so you can get to know them a little better and find out what they enjoy about working in the supply chain sector.
For the third instalment of our Meet the Team feature, we’re introducing our Glasgow Branch Manager, Tracey Cooper.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’ve worked in recruitment for over 15 years now and I’ve been hooked since day one. There’s something so satisfying about matching the perfect candidate with the right job opportunity. I get to work with a diverse range of people and learn about their unique skills, experiences, and aspirations. Plus, I love the challenge of identifying top talent and helping them land their dream job. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see someone thrive in their new role and know that I played a role in making that happen. The recruitment process can be stressful and demanding, but it’s also incredibly rewarding when you find the right match.
In my spare time, I enjoy horse riding and I have my own horse, Aurora. She is my life… it’s like having a child, but it’s much harder to get a childminder!
In your role, what do you do?
I am the Branch Manager for our Glasgow office. I manage a team of five, including Zoe, Brian, Aimee, Monica, and Sharon. I also run the Driving desk for HGV and van drivers, allocating over 200 shifts per week, and placing candidates into companies of all shapes and sizes, from small family-owned businesses to international blue-chip organisations to supply talented personnel.
How did you come to work in this role?
I initially joined to oversee the company’s Industrial division in June 2021. However, during that same year, I was asked to cover the Driving desk while the incumbent Manager was on annual leave. When she decided to leave the business, I was offered the position on a permanent basis and gladly accepted. Since then, I have gone on to complete CMI Management and Leadership training.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
It’s such an exciting and dynamic job that allows me to make a real impact on people’s lives. I get to work with a wide range of clients and candidates, each with their own unique story, requirements and set of skills. I enjoy the challenge of finding the perfect candidate for a job and helping them land their dream role. Plus, the satisfaction of seeing someone flourish in their new position is second to none. I also enjoy the fast-paced nature of the job, where no two days are ever the same. It keeps me on my toes and constantly learning new things. I also love seeing the team progress in their roles and supporting them to progress in their career.
What’s it like working with the rest of the team?
To put it simply, they’re all great to work with! We have a brilliant, close-knit team, and the camaraderie is as good as I’ve ever experienced in any of my previous roles.
What do you enjoy most about working in the supply chain industry?
I enjoy working with different people every day and helping clients find employees.
What do you enjoy about working with clients?
Building strong relationships with my clients is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my job. I enjoy getting to know their unique needs, company culture, and vision for the future. Collaborating with clients to find the best candidates for their organizations is incredibly rewarding, as it allows me to make a real impact on their success. I also value the opportunity to provide my clients with insights and advice based on my knowledge of the job market and recruitment best practices. Overall, working with clients is a crucial part of my role as a recruiter, and it’s a privilege to be able to help them find the workers they need to grow and thrive.
What do you enjoy about working with candidates?
I enjoy getting to know each candidate as an individual, and learning about their skills, experiences, and aspirations. It’s always fascinating to hear their stories and to see the unique perspectives they bring to the table. I take pride in helping candidates find the perfect job opportunity that aligns with their goals and values. Witnessing the excitement and joy in a candidate when they land a job they truly love is one of the most fulfilling parts of my role. I also value the opportunity to provide candidates with guidance and support throughout the recruitment process.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
Spending time with and looking after Aurora. I go every morning before work and every evening once I’m finished.
