In our third edition of our Meet the Drivers feature we’re looking into Mark McCluskey’s experience as a Class 1 HGV driver. Mark has worked with Bluestones Supply Chain, at our Glasgow branch, since their first open day back in 2015. To find out more about Mark’s experience as a professional driver and his time working with Bluestones Supply chain, you can read what Mark had to say below.
How long have you worked with Bluestones Supply Chain?
I’ve worked with Bluestones Supply Chain since 2015.
How did you find out about Bluestones Supply Chain?
I found them online.
What do you enjoy most about working for Bluestones Supply Chain?
You’re recognised and rewarded for your hard work. To my surprise, I won the annual recognition Driver of the Year Award in 2019!
What do you do in a typical working day?
I always carry out a walkaround check before I get out on the road. This includes checking the mirrors, the lights, the dashboard, tyres, breaks, and trailer security. I deliver loads to different parts of the country, so I will map out the route and plan when and where I’ll take my breaks.
Describe your experience of working for Bluestones Supply Chain.
I’ve worked for a few different agencies over the years, but Bluestones Supply Chain is number one, in my opinion. They always have great opportunities available and hold their drivers in high regard. The rates of pay are competitive too, so it’s always satisfying on a Thursday night when I see my wages.
Would you recommend Bluestones Supply Chain to other drivers? If so, why?
Yes, I always do. As I’ve mentioned, they’re great to work with, they offer competitive rates, and appreciate their drivers.
