									<p>From 1st April 2026, the Government is increasing the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage across the UK. If you are paid at or near minimum wage, your hourly rate may increase to ensure you receive the new legal minimum.</p><h4><strong>What are the new hourly rates?</strong></h4><ul><li>From 1 April 2026, the new statutory rates are:</li><li>Age 21 and over (National Living Wage): £12.71 per hour</li><li>Age 18–20: £10.85 per hour</li><li>Age 16–17: £8.00 per hour Apprentice rate: £8.00 per hour</li><li>Accommodation offset: £11.10 per day</li></ul><p>These rates are set by the Government and all employers must comply with them.</p><h4><strong>Do I need to do anything?</strong></h4><p>No. If your current hourly rate is below the new minimum for your age group, your pay will be updated automatically. You do not need to request the increase.</p><h4><strong>When will I see the change?</strong></h4><p>The new rates apply to pay periods covering 1 April 2026 onwards. You should see the updated hourly rate reflected on your payslip after this date.</p><h4><strong>Will holiday pay and overtime increase?</strong></h4><p>Yes. Holiday pay is based on your earnings, so if your hourly rate increases, your holiday pay will also increase. If your overtime is calculated as a multiple of your hourly rate (for example, time-and-a-half), this may also increase.</p><h4><strong> What if I am paid through an umbrella company?</strong></h4><p>Umbrella companies must also follow National Minimum Wage legislation. If your rate falls below the new legal minimum, it must be adjusted accordingly.</p><h5><strong>April 2026 Pay Update – Summary</strong></h5><p>New minimum wage rates effective 1 April 2026</p><ul><li>Automatic pay updates where required</li><li>Gross pay increases for affected workers</li><li>Holiday and overtime may increase</li><li>Take-home pay rises but deductions still apply</li></ul>								</div>

									<p>When DGG Transport landed a major new contract with a national home improvement retailer, it was a big win &#8211; but it also came with a big ask. They needed to expand their driver team quickly across multiple sites, looking for over 20 experienced Class 1 and Class 2 drivers, and it wasn’t just about numbers. These drivers had to have clean licences, digital tachograph experience, and in many cases, ADR certification for hazardous goods. Finding that many qualified drivers on such short notice is no small task, especially in a market already stretched thin.</p><p>That’s where we came in.</p><p>Thanks to our deep experience in the logistics space, we knew exactly where to start. We reconnected with drivers in our network who had previously expressed interest in coming back under the right circumstances. We also reached out directly to our trusted pool of past placements &#8211; drivers we knew had the right qualifications and a solid track record.</p><p>Alongside that, we launched a targeted social media push to get the word out fast, focusing on what we knew drivers were really looking for: steady hours, fair pay, and a supportive environment. We also introduced a driver referral scheme, which helped bring in several excellent candidates we might not have found otherwise.</p><p>We worked closely with DGG throughout, holding regular check-ins and suggesting flexible start dates and shift structures to make the most of candidate availability. It was a real team effort, and it paid off.</p><p>We filled nearly every role within the original window and found the final driver just a few days later. The best part? The majority of the drivers have stayed on, proving to be a great fit. 									<p>From 5 May 2025, updated safety regulations will come into effect across most of Greater London, impacting any business operating or relying on HGVs over 12 tonnes. Clients working within or around the capital should ensure that their supply chain partners and fleets are fully prepared, or risk delays, fines and disruption.</p><p>Under Transport for London’s updated Direct Vision Standard (DVS), all HGVs over 12 tonnes will need to have either a minimum three-star DVS rating or be fitted with a Progressive Safe System (PSS) to continue operating in the area legally.</p><p>Vehicles that fail to meet the requirements and do not have a valid safety permit may be issued a Penalty Charge Notice of £550 per breach. This will be reduced to £275 if paid within 14 days, but repeated non-compliance could have wider commercial consequences.</p><p>The changes are part of ongoing efforts to reduce accidents involving vulnerable road users by improving what HGV drivers can see directly from their cab windows. Operators who previously applied for and were granted a grace period still need to make the required upgrades and confirm compliance by 11.59pm on Sunday 4 May.</p><p>Clients are strongly encouraged to check that any vehicles used on their behalf in Greater London are fully compliant with the new rules.
